Proctor Hall

Proctor Hall

A diminutive, ball-playing inside-forward, Proctor Hall was one of Frank Scott-Walford’s first acquisitions on his appointment as Albion manager in 1905, but, like many players of that era, his stay lasted just one season. His first major club was Manchester United, whom he joined in September 1903 from Oswaldtwistle Rovers of the Lancashire Combination, but he had only eight appearances in the first team before being released to join the Goldstone staff in 1905. Although he was Albion’s regular inside-right during 1905-06, Proctor left for Aston Villa at the end of the season, but failed to make the senior team in a very short stay at Villa Park and was transferred to Second Division Bradford City in October 1906. Six goals from 28 Second Division outings for the Yorkshire club were followed by spells with Luton Town (signed May 1907), Chesterfield (January 1908), and Hyde in the Lancashire Combination (close season 1909). During the summer of 1912, Proctor was recruited by the newly formed Newport County and was ever-present in their first season in the Southern League’s Second Division, after which he moved on to another Welsh Southern League club, Mardy.

Proctor played 40 matches for the Seagulls in 1905-06 scoring 8 goals.
