
A member of the Hove Park club, Ward appeared in the Albion’s South Eastern League team towards the end of 1902 and scored twice in a 9-1 victory over Hitchin Town on his debut. In his second appearance he scored a hat-trick against Bedford Queen’s Engineering Works, and continued to play for the reserves on occasion until 1905.
Ward played a major role as Hove Park as won the Mid Sussex Senior League title and the Brighton Challenge Shield in 1904-05, then switched his allegiance to Hove F.C. where he gained further success. He appeared in the side which lost the 1906 Sussex Senior Cup final, but gained a winner’s medal the following year when Hove thrashed Eastbourne 4-0 at the Goldstone in a replay.
