AIbert Paddington was recruited from Southampton during the summer of 1903 to bolster Albion’s defence after the club had gained promotion to Division One of the Southern League. Having skippered the reserves at The Dell, he maintained a regular place in the Brighton first eleven during 1903-04, missing just three games as the club struggled in the higher grade.
Before joining Southampton in September 1899, Albert had played in turn for Basingstoke, Chandler’s Ford and Eastleigh Athletic, and rejoined the last mentioned club on leaving the Goldstone in May 1904.
