Arthur Armstrong

Recruited by First Division Derby County from the Bakewell club in October 1906, Arthur Armstrong played in the last two matches of the “Rams’ 1906-07 relegation campaign and their first two games in Division Two, but then drifted into non-League football with Heanor United. In June 1909, Jack Robson signed the wingman for the Albion, but he was also unable to make the grade at the Goldstone and played just twice in the 1909-10 Southern League championship campaign in the absence of George Featherstone. Arthur departed for Pontypridd in May 1910 and later played for Loughborough Corinthians and Heanor Town.

In his youth he was an acrobat with Sanger’s Circus, and worked as a telegraphist for the Great Northern Railway on retiring from football.

Arthur played 3 matches for the Seagulls in 1909-10.
