Arthur Hulme enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment at the start of the First World War. He was serving as a corporal in the 7th Battalion at the time of his death in action in October 1916 at the Somme. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial and on the Nicholson War Memorial in Leek.
