
Bert Wensley was a forcetul right hand batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler who played 373 matches between 1922 and 1936.
He scored 9,807 runs at an average of 19.97 including 8 centuries and took 1,067 wickets at 26.42 runs each including 5 wickets in an innings 53 times and 10 wickets in a match on nine occasions. He performed the hat-trick against Middlesex at Lord’s in 1935, scored 1,000 runs in a season three times and took 100 wickets in a season on five occasions.
Against Derbyshire at Horsham in 1930 he shared in a 9th wicket partnership with Harry Parks of 178 which is still a Sussex record.
