Bill Brown joined the Albion from the Northern Combination club Lintz Institute at the age of 22 in February 1913, and was given a run in the first team towards the end of the season, scoring three goals in ten games in the minor competitions. On Bullet Jones’s return from Birmingham the following term, however, Bill’s role became that of a reserve, despite scoring two hat-tricks in the Southern Alliance. He was also a regular scorer for the reserves and hit another two hat-tricks in the South Eastern League, but he was released in May 1914 and returned to minor football.

Bill appeared in 19 matches for the Seagulls in 1913-14 scoring 10 goals.
