Edgar Saunders joined the Albion in August 1922 having scored 40 goals for the Birmingham Tramways club in the Birmingham Combination the previous season.
Despite possessing a shot like a rocket’, he failed to impress the Goldstone management on leading the attack in the opening games of the 1922-23 campaign, but continued to play for the reserves until given a free transfer at the end of the season.
Edgar left for Pontypridd in the Southern League but, left after a season with the Welsh club, moved on to Peterborough & Fletton United, also in the Southern League.
