F. Mitchell played in all but one of Albion’s Southern League matches during the club’s first ever season, 1901-02, but played only briefly in the South Eastern League team the following season. A local amateur, he had previously turned out for the Preston Park-based North End Rangers and for Brighton & Hove Rangers.
In fact, he played in twelve of Brighton & Hove Rangers’ thirteen competitive matches during their one and only season, 1900-01, gaining runner’s-up medals in the Sussex Senior Cup and Brighton Challenge Shield.
