Harold McKenna

Harold McKenna

Harold McKenna was signed from the Scottish First Division club Third Lanark in November 1924 in the hope that he would prove a satisfactory replacement for George Coomber, who had received the injury that brought about his retirement a few weeks earlier.

Having played for St Mirren (signed June 1919) and Glasgow Rangers (August 1921) before his transfer to Third Lanark in February 1922, Harold was an experienced centre-half upon his arrival at the Goldstone Ground, but he failed to fulfil the club’s expectations. Making his debut in a 1-0 defeat at Southampton in a second round F.A. Cup tie, Harold enjoyed a seven-match run in the League side towards the end of 1924-25, but eventually lost his place to Eddie Fuller and returned to the reserves.

In September 1925 he moved back to Scotland to join Alloa on a free transfer.
