
Harry Butt was a hard hitting right hand batsman and wicket- keeper who played 517 matches between 1890 and 1912 and also three Test Matches for England in 1895-96.
He scored 7,049 runs at an average of 13.15 and as wicket-keeper took 905 catches and made 260 stumpings. He achieved six dismissals in an innings behind the wicket three times. In 1908 against Cambridge University at Fenner’s he shared in a partnership of 156 for the tenth wicket with G.R. Cox.
On retirement as a player for Sussex he stood as a first-class umpire and officiated in six Test matches.
