
Kelvinside, Glasgow born wing half Jimmy Mellon began his football career with Uddingston Juniors in 1922 and Wishaw YMCA in 1923 before joining Scottish League Hibernian in 1924. He moved south to join Third Division (South) Brighton & Hove Albion in 1926 and made his only Football League appearance when he played in a 3-2 victory over Norwich City on 6th October 1926. In 1927 he joined Accrington Stanley spending 1927-28 on their books without making a first team appearance. He then moved to Irish League Distillery in 1928, having a spell with Shelbourne later the same year before returning to join Rhyl Athletic in 1929.
