Jimmy Robertson

Jimmy Robertson started out with the Scottish junior club Vale of Leven but was playing for Belfast Distillery when he joined Blackburn Rovers in May 1905. A regular in the Lancashire club’s line-up for three seasons, he scored 22 goals in 78 First Division outings before being released to join the Albion In May 1908.

Jimmy played in a variety of positions at the Goldstone in 1908-09, although he usually partnered Joe Jee down the left flank. He played a big part in the Western League Division One Section ‘A’ championship success, but Albion struggled in the main competition, the Southern League, and only narrowly avoided relegation. As a result a number of players were released at the end of the season and the burly Scot returned north of the border with his original club Vale of Leven (August 1909).

He subsequently played for Falkirk from February 1911 until May 1914, and joined Dumbarton in May 1921.
