
Sidney Bedford joined his local club, Northampton Town, in November 1920, and made his debut four months later in a 2-2 defeat at Swindon towards the end of the “Cobblers'” initial season in the newly created Third Division.
With 72 League games under his belt, he joined the Albion in May 1924 and turned out at left-back, right- half and centre-half in his seventeen appearances for the club, but was released at the end of the 1924-25 season, joining Luton Town in June.
The tall, powerfully-built defender met with little success at Kenilworth Road, appearing in just one Third Division game before returning to his home county in 1926 with Rushden Town, whom he assisted to the championship of the Northamptonshire League in 1926-27.
