Spotted playing for Seaham White Star in the Wearside League, Tom Grierson was recruited by the Albion at the age of 23 during the close season of 1908. During the following campaign he played a reserve team role and performed well, heading the South Eastern League team’s scorers with sixteen goals. Although normally an inside-left, Tom appeared mainly on the right-wing in the few first-team outings that came his way, but he wasn’t retained at the end of the season and returned to the North East.
Tom played 7 matches for the Seagulls in 1908-09 and scored 1 goal.
